Yigal Allon (1918-1980) was a high-ranking military leader and politician. He served as Prime Minister for one month in 1969. He was a commander of the Palmach, and fought at the Litani River in June, 1941. Allon served in multiple political roles in the Knesset and Cabinet as a leader of the left. He was the architect of a proposed Arab-Israeli peace plan, the Allon Plan, in 1967 that would have prevented the Occupation, and which never came to fruition. Allon is remembered as a leader dedicated to peace, dialogue, and mutual understanding.
